Want a fun idea for something to do on a rainy, summer day?
We were invited to a friend’s birthday celebration at the newly opened Fore Score Golf Tavern in the San Marco area of Jacksonville, FL. Upon entrance, there’s a bar and seating area, with a hostess stand to check in. They have 4 bays you can rent to play games such as golf, football, rugby, baseball, dodgeball, and more! Our friend is a golf fan so the main attraction for the day was golf. The guys created teams and stepped up to swing.
The girls sat back, ordering drinks and food for the crew. The drinks were delicious, and the food was pretty good. My boyfriend was not a fan of the BBQ panini, but I enjoyed it. I think because it had mayonnaise and a vinegar (I think) taste, it was not what he expected. The pizzas are more like a personal size, more like the size naan bread. We ordered a few of them, with one being the BLT. I did not try to BLT pizza, but it looked delicious and got good reviews from those that ate it. Another item ordered was the cheese and meat tray, with three cheeses and two meats. It was $16 and a great deal for what you got!
The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a system glitch on our screen and they were happy to come in and rescue the game before the guys got upset. The system works by allowing people to scan a QR code for the menu. The first person that scans in is the main person, while others can scan in and put drinks and food under their own name. The tab adds up together but each person has their own section, which means it is split at the end and paid by phone.
The drinks were flowing, and the guys had a blast playing games. It was like a playground for adults! I would not say it’s comparable to TopGolf because you can play numerous games on the screen and it’s inside. There is an outdoor area with comfy couches and corn hole. The outside patio isn’t huge, but it was enough for what we were expecting for the day. There is a sun sail up for those hot, sunny Florida days. We went on rainy day, which was perfect for an indoor activity!
I recommend checking it out for a good indoor activity. The bays are rented by the hour, and they have games for adults and kids. The only thing I would warn about is if you are a family and you play in a bay next to all adults drinking cocktails, prepare for some ‘fun language’. Yes, we may have been that group when we went but we really tried to be respectful of the families around us. The families also had fun….they even watched the guys get crazy and laughed with us! No harm in their family fun and fun for all!
I hope one day you will review that cool place you work from... I think it is called LionShare or Coshare Cowork of Lions or something. I love following your travels!!!
